Which aspect of JWs would you like to see a documentary about?
by Gadget inif you had a chance to make a documentary about some aspect of the jws, what would ou choose?
would you talk about shunning, the blood issue, explain how its a cult, or what?
unfortunately this would only be for an 8 minute segment on a current affairs programme so i need something that'll get peoples attention and make them think without having to go too deep into the subject.. what would you choose to talk about?.

Just realized how the WTS and investing are extremely similar (analogy)
by Jourles ini was reading onacruise's story about the anticipation of 1975 and it really clicked this time.
it clicked before, but not like this.. how many of you have had friends or relatives urge you to buy a stock or some other investment because "it is gonna go sky high!"?
how many of you believe that being a jw requires total emotional attachment to the wts?

how long did it take?
by mjs mouse, ben innewbie here, a lil about me......grew up around the jw religion, never was baptized but i did get to the level of "unbaptized publisher" once, as of now i dont attend any "meetings", but still get the watchtowers and awakes pushed to me by family members.
it's actually been 3 years since i realized that it wasnt the "truth", even though i've probably have known it all along.
my question to the groups is, how long did it take you to stop calling it "the truth"?

Welcome. It took me a very long time, and it was a gradual process. When I finally was receptive to the real facts, it was a relief.

Do i deserve to choose?
by ConFuseDnStresSed05 ini'm 18, my whole life i've been fed a lie that my whole family believes is true, they've done nothing but try to help me in what ever ways their religion will allow them, and now wfter being sheltered, confused, but taken care of physically and what my mother thinks is spiritually i'm ready to leave it all ebhind, friends, family and more because now i'm of age and can see the numerous flaws and problems in the orginization.
do i deserve to choose what to do.
i'm between a rock and a hardplace.

EVERY adult has the RIGHT to choose their own lives. JWs will only love you if you are one of them, and leaning on them is like leaning on a wall made of tissue. People who truly love you are there to be leaned on, no matter what, and they'll hold you up.

Reveal something "weird" or "unusual" about yourself
by JH inwhatever i drink from the fridge, i put it into the microwave for 10 seconds so that it won't be too cold to drink.. .
whenever i drink ice cold liquids, it irritates my tongue/mouth and often triggers a sore throat.
now you have additional proof that i'm weird .

I'm ambidextrous. I can do many tasks with either my right or left hand. As a child, I was often confused as to which hand I should use when learning something new. I never learned to throw or write lefthanded, but I can play pool with either hand. It's gotten me into trouble a few times.

I'm not sure what to tell you, but consider the reasons NYC is desperate for HS teachers.

My mother became a JW in 72, when I was 2. I can't be sure when it started, but looking back I can point out a few things that could have indicated schizophrenia. It wasn't until she was refusing to eat, because her demonized JW friends were trying to poison her, that she got help. It's likely she was always crazy, but the JW demon paranoia didn't help any.

Sounds exactly - except for the annointed bit - like my mother before she was put on medication. As far as I know, she did not voluntarily go for help either.

The teenage years are a time for discovering sexual identity. This can become more confusing if the teenager is influenced to believe that their natural sexual urges are wrong. Although I never thought I was gay, I did indeed go through a difficult time regarding sex.
